Sophie Willan returns in first look at ‘Alma’s Not Normal’ series 2

Sophie Willan’s troubled Alma is back for more shenanigans in a first look at Alma’s Not Normal season two.

The character has already had her fair share of troublesome run-ins when it comes to love and life, with series one becoming a massive award-winner in 2022.

The series was praised for its portrayal of addiction, mental health and working class life.

Alma (Sophie Willan), Grandma Joan (Lorraine Ashbourne) and Jim (Nicholas Asbury) will all be back.

When the show was initially renewed, Sophie said: “I’ve been overwhelmed by the response to the show – people seem to really love and relate to the Nuthalls which means a lot and to get the chance to continue that story is beyond what I could have hoped for.

“That on the back of the awards we’ve received is a bit mind-blowing if I’m honest. To be recognised by BAFTA, Broadcast Awards, The Royal Television Society, peers and our audience in such a way is a real honour. I’m thrilled to get back in the writing room to see where Alma’s journey takes us next.”

The six-episode second series will return to BBC Two this Autumn.

The first series of Alma’s Not Normal is available on BBC iPlayer now
