Jennifer Lopez, fresh from her meta album movie This Is Me… Now, is back in a new acting role with Netflix sci-fi thriller, Atlas.

The multi-talented star – who wore wide acclaim for her starring role in Oscar-nominated Hustlers back in 2019 – will be taking on AI-gone-rogue in her latest offering.

In the film, she plays Atlas Shepherd, who is officially described as “a brilliant but misanthropic data analyst with a deep distrust of artificial intelligence”.

Soon she’s recruited to join a mission to capture a renegade robot – but in a twist, it appears she shares a mysterious past with the android.

The synopsis concludes: “When plans go awry, her only hope of saving the future of humanity from AI is to trust it.”

Lopez is supported by an all-star cast for Atlas, including Simu Liu (Barbie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings), Sterling K. Brown (American Fiction, This Is Us), Gregory James Cohan (The VelociPastor), Abraham Popoola (Extraordinary, The Rig), Lana Parrilla (Once Upon a Time, Why Women Kill) and Mark Strong (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Shazam!).

ATLAS launches globally on May 24th on Netflix.
