‘The Idea Of You’ trailer drops as Anne Hathaway and Nicolas Galitzine portray ‘Harry Styles fanfic’

It’s official: Harry Styles is so famous he’s turning into his own film genre with the launch of The Idea Of You – a romantic drama based on a novel heavily believed to be inspired by the pop star.

In The Idea Of You, 40-year-old single mum Solène (Anne Hathaway), finds herself in an unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine) after meeting him at Coachella.

Hayes – a heavily tattooed Britsh lead singer of August Moon – quickly tracks her down after their chance encounter with their spark undeniable.

But how can they survive a new romance, especially as Hayes is so heavily in the spotlight and their age difference is sure to draw the eye?

Solène soon discovers that life in the glare of his spotlight might be more than she bargained for – with everyone, including her teen daughter, being affected by her choice.

While there’s never been an official declaration that the film is based on Harry Styles, long time fans of One Direction – or even casual ones who know of Harry’s history – can note there’s a striking similarity.

Most notably, the team behind the movie have even used the same songwriting team for One Direction’s What Makes You Beautiful to create the soundtrack for the movie and August Moon’s lead single, Dance Before We Walk.

Fans will have to wait until the film drops to know for sure. The Idea Of You will premiere at SXSW Festival on March 16th, before launching on Prime Video in May.

This would therefore follow in the footsteps of movie franchise, After, which itself was based on a book series that started as Harry Styles fan-fiction.

Ella Rubin, Annie Mumolo, Reid Scott, Perry Mattfeld, Jordan Aaron Hall, Mathilda Gianopoulos, Raymond Cham Jr., Jaiden Anthony, Viktor White and Dakota Adan round out the cast of the already highly anticipated movie.

The Idea Of You will launch globally on May 2 on Prime Video.
