‘3 Body Problem’: What you need to know as Netflix drops final trailer of Game Of Thrones creators’ new show

Ahead of its debut at SXSW Festival on Friday, Netflix has dropped the final trailer for the highly anticipated 3-Body Problem.

Created and written by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (Game of Thrones) and Alexander Woo (The Terror: Infamy, True Blood), 3-Body Problem is based off a book of the same name by Liu Cixin.

Here’s everything you need to know.

3 Body Problem – Official Synposis

The vague official synopsis of 3 Body Problem from Netflix reads: “A young woman’s fateful decision in 1960s China reverberates across space and time into the present day.

“When the laws of nature inexplicably unravel before their eyes, a close-knit group of brilliant scientists join forces with an unorthodox detective to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history.”

The book synopsis offers a little more details – stating the story largely follows a character named Ye Wenjie, an astrophysicist graduate from Tsinghua University who finds herself branded a traitor shortly after witnessing her father getting beaten to death by Red Guards during the Chinese Cultural Revolution.

Forced to join a labour brigade and later prison, Ye Wenjie is given the opportunity for release after being conscripted by military physicists working under Red Coast – a secret Chinese initiative to use high-powered radio waves to damage spy satellites.

However, there’s more to the project than initially assumed (but we won’t spoil that here).
